Bulk SMS is the sending of a text message to many recipients at once, routed through mobile network operators rather than sent one at a time from a phone. In Tanzania, a bulk SMS platform holds a direct or aggregated route into each network -- Vodacom, Airtel, Tigo, Halotel, TTCL and Zantel -- so a single campaign submitted from a dashboard or an API call can reach a recipient on any of them.
What you need before sending
Three things: a list of recipient numbers, a message, and a sender identity. The sender identity can be a shared number by default, or a registered sender ID carrying your business name once it is approved by the regulator.
How delivery is confirmed
Once a message is submitted, the operator returns a delivery status for it -- typically delivered, failed, or pending -- which a bulk SMS platform surfaces per message rather than only reporting whether the batch was accepted.
See Bulk SMS Tanzania for what a SwalaSMS account includes, or the SMS API if you're integrating from your own application.
